SECTION 01170 <br />SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br />PART i — GENERAL <br />1.01 INSTALLATION OF EQUIPMENT <br />A. Special care shall be taken to ensure proper alignment of all equipment with particular <br />reference to the pumps and electric drives. The units shall be carefully aligned on their <br />foundations by qualified millwrights after their sole plates have been shimmed to true <br />alignment at the anchor bolts. The anchor bolts shall be set in place and the nuts tightened <br />against the shims. After the foundation alignments have been completed, the bedplates or <br />wing feet of the equipment shall be securely bolted in place. The alignment of equipment <br />shall be further checked after securing to the foundations, and after conformation of all <br />alignments, the sole plates shall be finally grouted in place. The Contractor shall be <br />responsible for the exact alignment of equipment with associated piping and under no <br />circumstances, will "pipe springing" be allowed. <br />B. All wedges, shims, filling pieces, keys, packing, grout, or other materials necessary to <br />properly align, level and secure apparatus in place shall be furnished by the Contractor. <br />All parts intended to be plumb or level must be proven exactly so. Perform all grinding <br />necessary to bring parts to proper bearing after erection. <br />i <br />1.02 SLEEVES AND OPENINGS <br />A. Provide all openings, channels, chases, etc, in new construction and furnish and install <br />anchor bolts and other items to be embedded in concrete, as required to complete the work <br />under this Contract. Perform all cutting, coring and rough and finish patching required in <br />existing construction for the work of all trades. <br />B. Subcontractors shall furnish all sleeves, inserts, hangers, anchor bolts, etc, required for the <br />execution of their work. It shall be their responsibility before the work of the Contractor is <br />begun to famish him with the above items and with templates, drawings or written <br />information covering chases, openings, etc, which they require and to follow up the work <br />of the Contractor as it progresses, making sure that their drawings and written instructions <br />are carried out. Failing to do this, they shall be responsible for the cost of any corrective <br />i measures which may be required to provide necessary openings, etc. If the Contractor fails <br />i to carry out the directions given him, covering details and locations of openings, etc, he <br />shall be responsible for any cutting and refinishing required to make the necessary <br />corrections. In no case shall beams, lintels, or other structural members be cut without the <br />approval of the Engineer. <br />1.03 RELOCATION <br />A. The Contractor shall be responsible for the relocation of structures, including but not <br />limited to light poles, signs, sign poles, fences, piping, conduits and drains that interfere <br />with the positioning of the work as set out on the Drawings.
