1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Perform Work in accordance with ANSUAWWA C651, C6521 C653, and C654. <br />1.06 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS <br />A. Conform to applicable Florida DEP requirements for performing the work of this Section. <br />B. Work shall conform to Martin County Utility Standards. <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br />2.01 DISINFECTION CHEMICALS <br />A. Chemicals: The disinfecting agent shall be sodium hypochlorite solution ANSUAWWA <br />B303 or liquid chlorine ANSUAWWA B301. Dry hypochlorite, similar to "HTH" or equal <br />may also be used as the disinfecting agent. Bleach or Clorox is not acceptable. <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.01 EXAMINATION <br />A. Verify that pumps, piping systems, tanks, have been cleaned, inspected, and tested. <br />B. Coordinate scheduling and disinfection activity with start-up, testing, demonstxation <br />proced»rss, -including coordination with related systems. <br />3.02 FLUSHING AND PRESSURE TESTING. PIPING <br />The Contractor shall furnish and install suitable temporary testing plugs or caps for thewater lines, <br />all necessary pressure pumps, hose, pipe connections, meters, gauges and other similar equipment, <br />and all labor required all without additional compensation for conducting pressure and leakage tests <br />and flushing of the new water lines. Flushing and pressure testing shall be conducted in the <br />following order. <br />A. After all piping lines have been installed and before pressure testing and final connections to <br />equipment, each run of pipe shall be thoroughly flushed so as to remove all debris and <br />foreign matter from the piping and equipment. Clean and flush all piping using potable <br />water. Sufficient flushing water shall be introduced into the piping to produce a velocity of <br />not less than 5 feet per second, and this rate of flow shall be continued until the discharge is <br />clear and no evidence of silt or foreign matter is visible. Flushed water may be discharged to <br />the onsite holding ponds and be coordinated with Owner. Contractor to provide mesas of <br />discharging water to ponds at Contractor's expense. <br />Pigging of piping systems should be considered where flushing is not practical or feasible. <br />Non-abrasive pigs shall be employed. <br />B.
