SECTION 16480 <br />480 VOLT MOTOR CONTROL CENTERS <br />PART l GENERAL_ <br />1.01 REFERENCE STANDARDS <br />A. Motor control centers shall be designed, built and tested in accordance with the latest editions <br />and revisions of NEMA Standard ICS -2 and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Standard No. <br />UL -845. Equipment shall conform to ANSI C19.3 test standards and the requirements of the <br />National Electrical Code (NEC). <br />1.02 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. The motor control centers shall be the product of a manufacturer who shall also be the <br />manufacturer of all the circuit breakers, fused switches and motor starters included in the motor <br />control center and who has produced the same type of equipment for a period of at least 15 <br />consecutive years. <br />B. Motor control centers shall be designed, assembled and tested by the manufacturer of the motor <br />control equipment included in the control center assembly. <br />1.03 MANUFACTURERS <br />A. The general arrangement of the motor control centers is shown on the Drawings. Motor control <br />centers shall be one of the following products: <br />1. Cutler Hammer/Westinghouse "2100 Series". <br />2. Square D Corp. "Model 6" <br />3. General Electric Co. "8000 -Line". <br />PART PRODUCTS <br />2.01 RATING <br />A. Service: 480 Volt, 3 Phase, 3 Wire, 60 Hz. <br />B. Main and feeder circuit protective devices shall be fully rated for the specified short circuit <br />duty. Systems employing series connected ratings for main and feeder devices shall not be <br />used Motor starter units shall be tested and UL labeled for the specified short circuit duty m <br />combination with the motor branch circuit protective device. <br />C. The continuous current rating of the main horizontal bus shall be as shown required. Vertical <br />busses shall be sized for the structure load and shall have a minimum rating of 300 Amps. Bus <br />bracing shall equal or exceed the specified equipment short circuit rating. <br />D. Motor control centers, including devices, shall be designed for continuous operation at rated <br />current in a 40 degree C ambient temperature. <br />044572017 <br />16480-1 <br />
