C -
Ms. Polly Kratman GeoSyntec Consultants
Indian River County
10 May 2006
Page 4
Task 2: Hvdrogeologieal and Geotechnical Site Investigations
A detailed site investigation will be performed in accordance with Rule 62-701 .410,
FAC to establish geotechnical, geological and hydrogeological characteristics of the
proposed Class I landfill expansion. The purpose of the investigation is to obtain the site-
specific data necessary to address the elements of Rule 62- 701 .410, FAC, and also to
support the design, permitting and groundwater monitoring requirements for the proposed
Class I landfill expansion. The proposed scope of work for Task 2 will have a phased
approach, and has therefore been divided into five subtasks to facilitate project
management and allow effective control of the proposed budget and schedule. These
subtasks are as follows :
• Subtask 2 . 1 — Surveying and Mapping;
• Subtask 2 .2 — Development of the Site Investigation Work Plan ;
• Subtask 2. 3 — Hydrogeological and Geotechnical Site Investigations;
• Subtask 2 .4 — Data Evaluation and Interpretation; and
• Subtask 2 . 5 — Hydrogeological/Geotechnical Investigation Report.
The scope of work for each subtask is outlined below.
Subtask 2.1 — Surveying and Mapping
A detailed topographic map of the site will be developed for use in the design of the
landfill expansion and preparing the permit application . The topographic map will be
developed from aerial photography and photogrammetry with limited ground control. The
topographic map will be developed using the Florida State Plane Coordinate System, North
American Datum of 1983 (NAD83) and the National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929
(NGVD29) . The topographic map will be prepared at a scale not greater than 1 inch — 200
feet with 2-foot contour intervals to meet the requirements of Rule 62-701 . 330(3)(d), FAC .
GeoSyntec will procure the services of a Florida licensed surveyor to produce the
aerial photography and topographic map required for the design and permitting of the
Class I landfill expansion. It is assumed that SWDD will provide a property boundary
survey and legal description suitable for the permit application.
XL06096UL60070.doc
