A letter from Representative Art Karst- was received requesting the
<br />Count' to consider offering the State of Florida a site in Indian River
<br />County for an Appellate Court. Commissioner Waddell moved that the
<br />County Engineer write a letter to Representative Art Karst, offering to
<br />the State of Florida, for the use of an Appellate Court, a site of not
<br />less than five acres nor more than ten acres in the County property
<br />located immediately south of the new High School. The County Engineer
<br />was requested to attach appropriate aerial photographs and mail a copy
<br />of the letter to Senator Merrill P. Barber. The motion was seconded by
<br />Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried.
<br />Mr. Clarence Dodson, representing the Indian River Beach Buggy
<br />Association appeared before the Board and requested the Board's permission
<br />to mark off a portion of the beach north of r4abasso and south of the
<br />Ambersand Beach Park to be used for drag races. Motion was made b.
<br />Commissioner McCullers, seconded by Commissioner Waddell, and unanimously
<br />carried that the Indian River Beach Buggy Association be authorized to use
<br />this area for supervised daytime racing. Tlie Association is to have the
<br />area well marked and the Board requests the Sheriff's Department to assign
<br />a deputy to supervise the races.
