Mr. Jennings suggedtedjtwo' <br />alternatives to remedy the situation: 1) run a ditch along the -rod <br />right of way which would go through numerous driveways, culverts would <br />have to be changed and would be expensive. 2) consider the possibility <br />of condemning an easement along the south side of Lot 23, Block 3, <br />Tropicolony for the length of the lot. After discussion, Commissioner <br />Waddell moved that the Administrator be authorized to have an appraisal <br />made of the particular easement and that the owner be offered the <br />appraised value. The Motion was seconded by Commissioner McCullers <br />and unanimously carried. <br />The County Attorney submitted the' Performance Bond, Labor and Material', <br />Payment Bond, Certificate of Insurance, and Contract between County, and <br />Netto Construction Company for the construction of the Courthouse Annex. <br />Upon Motion by Commissioner Waddell, seconded by Commissioner McCullers <br />and unanimously carried, the Chairman was authorized to execute the <br />Contract <br />Elsie Jones of Ee3;lsmdreerequested finaricial-.-aid-from.-the County <br />to build a nursing home for the colored. She was informed by the Board <br />that the County cannot,by law, spend any money on private property. <br />Dr. Flood volunteered to aid her in checking the availibility of federal <br />funds for this purpose. <br />Mr. George Stokes, Veteran Service Officer, requested that the <br />rear steps to the Courthouse be remodeled to include a ramp or that <br />the complete steps -be remade into a ramp so that disabled veterans <br />in wheelchairs and those who have difficulty in manipulating steps <br />can come into his. office. He also requested that, if the Board sees <br />fit, that his parking space, which is the nearest' one to thNdoor be <br />reserved for dibabled veterans. On Motion by Commissioner McCullers, <br />seconded by Commissioner Macdonald and unanimously carried, the Admin- <br />istrator was requested to make a cost estimate of the request and also <br />to have Netto Construction estimate what a change order would involve <br />to have a ramp in the new building. <br />OCT 191 <br />666k 10 pdGF 22 <br />
