In the cover letter, instruct recipients to report promptly to the <br />CONTRACTOR, in writing, any problems anticipated by the projections <br />shown in the schedules. <br />Wr <br />Earthwork, including earthwork for drives outside the right-of-way limits, shall be <br />paid for as embankment. Cost shall include all work specified in this section and <br />Section 120 of the Standard Specifications. Such price and payment shall <br />specifically include all cost of any roadway, lateral ditch or canal, and final dressing <br />operations. <br />Earthwork quantities shall be considered as in-place material with no shrinkage or <br />expansion factors. <br />Subsoil Excavation - Any excavation below the proposed bottom elevation of the <br />select fill, isolated Swale bottom locations, isolated locations for pipe installations <br />and as approved by the engineer shall be paid for as subsoil excavation. <br />Approximately 2.0 ft of subsoil excavation is required in sublateral canals. Cost of <br />replacement embankment shall be included in cost of subsoil excavation. <br />Contractor to coordinate with county representative prior to any subsoil excavation. <br />D. Embankment - General Requirements for Embankment Materials: The following is <br />added after the first paragraph of Subarticle 120-7.2: <br />Roadway Design Standard Index No. 505, Embankment Utilization Details is <br />modified by the addition of the following: <br />Any stratum or stockpile or soil which contains obvious pockets of highly organic <br />material may be designated as muck or unsuitable for construction of subgrade by <br />the Owner. <br />Backfill material containing more than 2.0% by weight of organic material, as <br />determined by FM 1-T 267 and by averaging the test results for three randomly <br />selected samples from each stratum or stockpile of a particular material, shall not <br />be used in construction of the reinforced volume.
