' 2 . 1 .3 . Maintenance and Protection of Traffic <br /> ' Construction Requirement <br /> Within fifteen ( 15) calendar days after the Notice to Proceed, the Contractor shall submit in <br /> writing, for the approval of the Engineer, a plan of the methods, traffic corridors, facilities and <br /> devices he proposes for the use for the maintenance and protection of traffic. As a general guide, <br /> the Contractor shall refer to Figure #6-6 of Page 276 of the MUTCD and consider the warning <br /> ' devices as shown on Figure #6-6 as the minimum requirements for qualification of this Article. <br /> Signs, barricades, traffic cones and electric flasher units shall be established, relocated, repaired <br /> and replaced in such manner and at such times and places as may be necessary for adequate <br /> protection of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, subject to the approval of the Engineer. The <br /> Contractor shall provide sufficient flagmen and shall take all other precautions, including any <br /> which may be ordered by the Engineer, that are necessary for the safety of the public and <br /> protection of traffic and work. No trenches shall be left open within the usable traffic width of a <br /> road, but shall be backfilled within the same day of construction of utilities. Patrols shall be <br /> ' made on a regular basis to assure that all maintenance devices and warning signs are in working <br /> condition and have a clean appearance. <br /> ' The means provided for the maintenance of highway traffic shall be removed upon completion of <br /> each project roadway, including shoulder operations and any damages done to public andprivate <br /> ' property shall be made good by the Contractor at his own expense. <br /> ' 2. 1 .4 . Engineer's Field Office <br /> This is to supplement Article 1 .4. 5 . <br /> ' This Article is amended to state that no engineer's field office is required. <br /> ' 4 <br />
