The Director of Emergency Services for Indian River County has <br /> been designated as the LMS Coordinator. <br /> 1 . 3. 1 . 5 Participation Requirement <br /> 1 ) Attend Working Group meetings ; <br /> 2 ) Provide input and technical information to the planning process , ( if available ) ; <br /> and <br /> 3 ) Disseminate information to others within represented sector . <br /> 1 . 3 . 2 Subcommittees <br /> The LMS Coordinator is authorized to establish ad - hoc subcommittmaes as <br /> needed to further the goals and objectives of the LMS . These groups can be f Ormed to <br /> address special issues and can be disbanded once the issue has been proper y addressed . <br /> Subcommittee members need not be Working Group members , but may be any individual <br /> able to provide special expertise and knowledge about specific concerns addressed in the <br /> LMS . <br /> 1 . 3 . 3 Community Stakeholder Groups <br /> Community stakeholder groups are any community group or organization with an <br /> interest in reducing the risks posed by natural hazards in Indian River County . <br /> 1 . 3. 3. 1 Role of Community Stakeholder Groups <br /> In an effort to develop a mitigation planning process that is community based and <br /> focused on creating disaster resistant communities in Indian River County , community <br /> stakeholder groups were invited to participate . Stakeholders provide the process with <br /> valuable information about past , present, and future conditions within the community, <br /> Stakeholders were asked to participate in an effort to capture input that is representative of <br /> the diverse needs of citizens , businesses , and organizations in Indian River County . <br /> 1 . 3. 3. 2 Composition <br /> Community stakeholder groups include any community organization that is not <br /> represented on the LMS Working Group and can range from neighborhood associations to <br /> local businesses , to civic clubs . These groups can provide data and information important in <br /> developing the LMS , and may become partners in mitigation activities at some point in the <br /> LMS process . <br /> 1 . 3. 3. 3 Responsibilities <br /> Participation for community stakeholder groups is highly encouraged and <br /> voluntary . Groups can participate in the LMS process in the following manners . <br /> '�.• 1 ) Attend Working Group meetings ; or <br /> 2 ) Provide input and technical information to the planning process or <br /> 1 -8 <br />
