Mr. Floyd Umphrey appeared before the Board and complained of the•.
increase in the amount of his 1966 taxes over previous years. No action
)was taken.
Mr. Henry Thompson appeared before the Board with problems he has
encountered at Sebastian Inlet Park: 1) people pulling campers into the
park for the day, and do not feel they should pay a camping fee, 2)
"hardened parking spaces" are needed, and 3) he would like to have a
policy of no camping along the shore.
After considerable discussion, Commissioner Dritenbas moved, seconded
by Commissioner McCullers and unanimously carried that the following
regulations be established for Sebastian Inlet Parka
There shall be established in the park an area for
parking of vehicles. This parking area shall be open to
all without charge on a first come -first serve basis.
The parking area shall not be used for camping. Camping
will be'permitted'.only in the area established. for
campsites. Upon the entry into a campsite whether
actually used for camping or not, there shall be a charge
of $1.50 for a period no longer than 24 hours, plus 500
for normal electrical hookup, plus 500 for electric
water heater, plus 250 for each air conditioner.
Commissioner Macdonald reported that Mr. Roulette of Florida Power
and Light Company had requested that he be provided with a layout so
that he would know just what the County wanted. Commissioner Macdonald
moved that the Administrator have someone meet with Henry Thompson, stake
out exactly where Mr. Thompson wants the electricity to be provided; and
that this be put on one of the drawings of the park, to be turned over to
Florida Power and Light. Motion was seconded by Commissioner McCullers
and unanimously carried.
Mr. Thompson further stated that a hot water heater is needed in the
restrooms and also that there are presently 18 wooden and 6 concrete picnic
tables and he could use 35 more. He also requested that since the County
equipment is up there, that shell or; marl be put on the roads and parking
spaces. The Administrator stated that to put shell or marl to cover all
Of it would be quite a project and he has not located any shell deposit,
that the only hope is if the Inlet Commission, in their dredging operations,
should hit a strataof shell that could be used`for stabilization. No
action was taken.
•
JAN 4 1967
BOOK 10 PACd.54
