SECTION 02050 <br />SITE PREPARATION <br />PART 1 - GENERAL <br />1.1 SCOPE <br />A. This Section covers work along the construction site, including clearing, grubbing, <br />stripping and disposal, complete as specified herein. Refer to Section 01541 for <br />additional requirements regarding protection of trees, plants, existing structures, etc. <br />Refer to Section 02240 for Exotic Removal requirements. <br />1.2 LIMITS OF CLEARING AND GRUBBING <br />A. Clear and grub the area landward of the existing "Beach/Dune Vegetation" as <br />shown on Sheet C=2 of the Contract Drawings, as necessary for the construction of <br />the proposed improvements. <br />1.3 PERMITS <br />A. Before beginning any clearing or grubbing work, apply for and obtain an Indian River <br />County Land Clearing Permit and pay all associated fees. Information and an <br />application is provided at the end of this Section. Pay all associated permit <br />application fees. <br />1.4 CLEARING <br />A. The surface of the ground for the area to be cleared and grubbed shall be <br />completely cleared of all timber, brush, stumps, roots, grass, weeds, structures <br />designated to be removed, concrete, rubbish and all other objectionable <br />obstructions resting on or protruding through the surface of the ground. However, <br />all trees shall be preserved unless they are specifically listed in the Contract <br />Documents to be removed. Provide tree buffers to the drip line on all trees to be <br />preserved. Conduct clearing operations so as to prevent damage to trees to be <br />saved, to existing structures and installations, and to those under construction, and <br />so as to provide for the safety of employees and others. Clearing for structures <br />shall consist of topsoil and vegetation removal. <br />Be Contractor shall remove excess existing pavement and underlying base material — <br />except under proposed "tan -colored concrete" deck (shown on the landscape <br />drawings) where base material may be left in place so as to provide a foundation for <br />the deck and achieve finished grades.
