the bituminous materials as they are applied . Do not lay the bituminous materials <br /> unless they are the proper temperature . <br /> 3 . 2 TACK <br /> A . If required , a tack coat shall be applied per Section 02741 of these Specifications . <br /> 3 . 3 PLACEMENT OF ASPHALTIC CONCRETE <br /> A . Asphaltic concrete mix shall be placed in accordance with FDOT specifications <br /> Sections 320 and 330 , with the following exceptions : <br /> 1 . Substitute " Resident Project Representative" for Engineer. <br /> 2 . Delete all phrases such as "when directed by the Engineer" that <br /> implicitly or explicitly indicate that the Engineer or Resident Project <br /> Representative shall have authority to supervise or direct performance <br /> of the work or authority to undertake responsibility contrary to the <br /> provisions of paragraph 9 . 10 of the "Standard General Conditions of <br /> the Construction Contract Section 00700" . <br /> Be Unless otherwise approved by the Engineer, the Contractor shall saw-cut edges of <br /> existing pavement where (a ) existing pavement is to be removed , and ( b ) new <br /> pavement is to be placed against existing pavement . <br /> 3 . 4 FINISHED CROSS SECTION <br /> A . The finished surface shall not vary from the approved section on the Plans by more <br /> than 1 /4 inch from a 10 foot straight edge applied both parallel and perpendicular to <br /> the centerline of the pavement . The parallel measurement shall not be required if <br /> the road centerline is sloped to the grades shown on the Plans . The parallel <br /> measurement will be required only on flat (zero slope ) grades . Areas with improper <br /> cross sections shall be corrected to the proper cross section as specified herein . <br /> 3 . 5 PAVEMENT THICKNESS <br /> A . All new pavement shall be 2 Y2" thick asphalt Concrete type S - 1 <br /> Be To achieve finished grades , the Contractor shall apply 1 " thick asphalt Concrete <br /> type S - 1 over existing pavement . <br /> C . The finished pavement thickness shall vary by no more than plus or minus 1 /4 inch <br /> from the thickness called for on the Plans . Corrections of deficiencies in pavement <br /> thicknesses shall be in strict accordance with the above FDOT Specifications . <br /> s <br /> 02520-2 02520 — Asphaltic Concrete . . . <br />
