At the request of the Board, the County Attorney invited <br />Dr. G. B. Britton, a member of the newly appointed county Water <br />Resources Committee, to meet the members of the 'Board. Dr.. Britton <br />addressed a few remarks regarding water conservation to the Board <br />and received their expression of appreciation -for his willingness to <br />serve on the committee. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Macdonald, seconded by Commissioner <br />1 <br />Bogosian, the following Resolution was unanimously adopted: <br />RESOLUTION NO. 67-31 <br />WHEREAS, Robert P. McLarty has made an app1.ication to the <br />Corps of Engineers of the United States Army for a dredging permit in the <br />public waters of Indian River County; and, <br />WHEREAS, this Board has recommended that the permit not be <br />issued; and, <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent and purpose of this Board to limit and <br />confine dredging in the public waters of this county to those areas where there <br />will be a minimum of disturbance of the bottoms essential to conserve fish and <br />wild life and to limit such dredging to that which can be accomplished without <br />a deposit of harmful silt in the public waters; and, <br />WHEREAS, this Board is well aware of the fact that there can be <br />honest differences of opinion on the subject; Now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board. of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, that this Board does herewith publicly express its <br />high esteem for Robert P. McLarty and does recognize the contributions which <br />he has made to his country in war and peace and to the State of Florida in the <br />promotion of public parks, preservation of historic areas and conservation of <br />the natural resources of the State; and, <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Resolu- <br />tion be furnished to Mr. McLarty. <br />M!\Y 2 41%7 <br />6001( 10 PACE362 <br />
