Himanshu Mehta, P . E .
7 September 2007
Page 3
Phase 2 — Injection and Monitoring Well Installations
Phase 2 includes the activities associated with providing oversight to drilling subcontractors, as
required, to install the proposed injection well network and the FDEP -requested off-site
monitoring well to be located on the Cathco, Inc. property. The proposed drilling will include
the following :
• Transect One: Twenty-two, 1 -inch diameter injection wells screened from 40 to 50 ft
below land surface (BLS) will be located in the current infiltration gallery. Eight of the
original "vertical head dissipation wells" will be converted to injection wells, and 14 new
injection wells will be installed . The injection wells will be completed with 2 ft by 2 ft by
4-inch thick concrete pads, 8-inch steel manholes, and locking caps. The injection wells
will be installed using direct-push drilling techniques .
• Transect Two : Twenty-three, 1 -inch diameter injection wells screened from 40 to 50 ft
BLS will be installed along a transect in proximity to monitoring well MW07 . The wells
will be spaced at approximately 6 . 6 ft to provide a continuous treatment barrier. The
injection wells will be completed with 2 ft by 2 ft by 4-inch thick concrete pads, 8-inch
steel manholes, and locking caps . The injection wells will be installed using direct-push
drilling techniques .
• Transect Three: Thirty-two, 1 -inch diameter injection wells screened from 40 to 50 ft BLS
will be installed along a transect in proximity to monitoring well MW28B (located on IRC
Sheriffs Department Firing Range). The wells will be spaced at approximately 8 . 9 ft to
provide a treatment barrier. The injection wells will be completed with 2 ft by 2 ft by 4-
inch thick concrete pads, 8-inch steel manholes, and locking caps. The injection wells will
be installed using direct-push drilling techniques.
• One, 2-inch diameter by 40 ft total depth monitoring well, with a screened interval from
30 to 40 ft BLS will be installed using hollow-stem auger drilling techniques at the
Cathco, Inc. property. The monitoring well will be completed with a 2 ft by 2 ft by 4-inch
thick concrete pad, 8-inch steel manhole, and locking cap . The monitoring well will be
developed until visibly free of particulates/solids .
XR07192/CCR07069DOC
engineers I scientists I fnnos,nors
