ARTICLE IV. PLUMBING CODE. -- <br />Section 1. Subject to the limitations and exceptions in <br />Article I of this resolution and subject to the following modifications, <br />Indian River County hereby adopts by reference, as a plumbing code <br />for the said county, the Southern Standard Plumbing Code, 1967 Edition, <br />as prepared by the Southern Building Code Congress, three (3) copies <br />of which are filed in the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court for <br />Indian River County, Florida. <br />Section 2. The following provisions of said Southern Standard <br />Building Code, Part III, Plumbing, are hereby modified as follows: <br />(1) Plumbing Official. Section 10271 is amended to read: <br />"There is hereby established a division cf the Building <br />Department to be called the Plumbing Division, which <br />shall be in charge of the County Building Official (some- <br />times hereinafter referred to as the Plumbing Official). ' <br />(2) Inspectors. Section 102.2 is amended to read: <br />• <br />"With the approval of the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida (referred to herein as <br />the Chief Appointing Authority), a Building Official <br />appointed by the Chief Appointing Authority may appoint <br />such number of officers, inspectors, assistants and <br />other employees as shall be authorized from time to <br />time. No person shall be appointed as Inspector of <br />Plumbing who has not had at least ten (10) years' experi- <br />ence as a plumbing inspector, journeyman plumber, <br />master plumber, engineer or as a superintendent fore- <br />man or competent mechanic in charge of plumbing con- <br />struction. " <br />(3) Unsafe Installations. Section 103.4 is amended to read: <br />"All plumbing installations, regardless of type, which <br />are unsanitary or which constitute a hazard to human <br />life, health or welfare are hereby declared illegal and <br />shall be abated by repair and rehabilitation or by demo- <br />lition in accordance with the procedure as outlined in <br />Section 103.4 --Unsafe Buildings, of the Southern Standard <br />Building Code, as modified by Paragraphs 3 and 4 of <br />Section 2 cf Article II of this resolution. " <br />(4) Requirements Not Covered by Code. Section 103.5 is <br />amended to read: <br />"Any requirement necessary for the safety, strength or <br />stability of an existing; or proposed plumbing installation, <br />or for the safety of the occupants of a building or structure, <br />31 Boa 11 na x.37 <br />FEB:2 11968 <br />
