Mu <br />?bs'4'ad'4 .Ytm.+ +Nare441�k�'.,T=fti` 1141 �Y'S'Z5�.`,@° <br />�w�a»�v,..n�r:,mw,�: sa',•faaF!�i4af�'�Y4 -: _ _ ;a..YA�ta�s _. _ ___ . -. <br />R E S O L U T I O N <br />VERO BEACH -'),INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE <br />WHEREAS the economic welfare of its membership and the <br />community of Vero Beach is a primary concern of the Vero Beach <br />Indian River County Chamber of Commerce and, <br />WHEREAS evidence has been submitted by many members of <br />said Chamber of Commerce, who comprise the Motel As's'ociation, Res- <br />taurant Association, Downtown Merchants, Plaza Merchants, Treasure- <br />. <br />Coast Plaza Merchants, Board of Realtors, Beach Business Bureau and <br />other interested and concerned parties, which daily indicate that <br />the recent opening of Interstate 95, with its attendant traffic <br />routing around the City of Vero Beach has caused a drastic down- <br />turn in the business of the above named groups -- all these 'tourist - <br />oriented businesses -- said downturn amounting to a 25% to 35% <br />decrease in business conditions in a short'24 hour period follwing <br />said opening and routing of I-95, and has continued at this depressed <br />level ever since, and, <br />WHEREAS the tourist -oriented -businesses in Vero Beach <br />and Indian River County is our second most important industry,(Citrus!'#1), <br />and, <br />WHEREAS the existing conditions cannot be permitted to <br />continue without grave economic consequences in Vero Beach, and in <br />the establishments of several effected taxpayers and Chamber members, <br />and, <br />WHEREAS there is no apparent reason for the re-routing of <br />passenger traffic around Vero Beach, other than reasons unknown and, <br />WHEREAS it appears that truck routing around Vero Beach <br />a , <br />without disturbing the normal flow of passenger traffic into Vero <br />ISeaavla could be a accmoanpl.ishad by tlaca proper signing programs on State <br />Road 600 at, and east of the terminus of I-95 and, <br />WHEREAS this completion of the widening of State Road 60 <br />from 1-95 tidal to Vuro bea cli is an integral p.Rr.t of the whole problem. <br />1 r�' <br />NOV $j 1970 <br />
