Immediately on delivery, inspect shipments to assure compliance with <br /> requirements of Contract Documents and approved submittals, and that products <br /> are properly protected and undamaged . <br /> Be Provide equipment and personnel to handle products by methods to prevent soiling or <br /> damage to products or packaging . <br /> 1 . 06 STORAGE AND PROTECTION <br /> A . Furnish a covered, weather- protected storage structure providing a clean , dry , non- <br /> corrosive environment for all mechanical equipment, valves, architectural items, <br /> electrical and instrumentation equipment and special equipment to be incorporated into <br /> this project . Storage of equipment shall be in strict accordance with the " instructions for <br /> storage " of each equipment supplier and manufacturer including connection of heaters, <br /> placing of storage lubricants in equipment, etc . Furnish a copy of the manufacturer' s <br /> I <br /> nstructions for storage to the Engineer prior to storage of all equipment and materials . <br /> Corroded , damaged or deteriorated equipment and parts shall be replaced before <br /> acceptance of the project . Equipment and materials not properly stored will not be <br /> included in a payment estimate . <br /> Be Store products in accordance with manufacturer' s instructions, with seals and labels intact <br /> and legible . <br /> 1 . Store products subject to damage by the elements in weathertight enclosures . <br /> 2 . Maintain temperature and humidity within the ranges required by manufacturer' s <br /> • instructions . <br /> 3 . Store fabricated products above the ground, on blocking or skids, prevent soiling <br /> or staining . Cover products which are subject to deterioration with impervious <br /> sheet coverings, provide adequate ventilation to avoid condensation . <br /> 4 . Store loose granular materials in a well - drained area on solid surfaces to prevent <br /> mixing with foreign matter . <br /> Co All materials and equipment to be incorporated in the work shall be handled and stored <br /> before, during and after shipment in a manner to prevent warping, twisting, bending, <br /> breaking , chipping, rusting and any injury , theft or damage of any kind whatsoever to the <br /> material or equipment . <br /> D . Cement , sand and lime shall be stored under a roof and off the ground and shall be kept <br /> completely dry at all times . All structural and miscellaneous steel and reinforcing steel <br /> shall be stored off the ground or otherwise to prevent accumulations of dirt or grease and <br /> in a position to prevent accumulations of standing water and to minimize rusting . Beams <br /> shall be stored with the webs vertical . Precast concrete beams shall be handled and stored <br /> in a manner to prevent accumulations of dirt , standing water, staining, chipping or <br /> cracking . Brick, block and similar masonry products shall be handled and stored in a <br /> manner to reduce breakage , chipping, cracking and spalling to a minimum . <br /> E . All materials which , in the opinion of the Engineer, have become so damaged as to be <br /> unfit for the use intended or specified shall be promptly removed from the site of the <br /> work and the Contractor shall receive no compensation for the damaged material or its <br /> removal <br /> 0 <br /> 01610- 3 <br />
