8 / 24 / 99 (ord \ alarm) Ow <br />ORDINANCE 99 - 21 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF COUNTY,FLORIDA,ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS <br />GOVERNING• TO BY LAW <br />ENFORCEMENT <br />COUNTY ORDINANCES 9940 <br />AND .. <br />WHEREAS, up to 99 percent of alarm signals are false alarm signals; and <br />WHEREAS, responding to these false alarms is a waste of manpower; and <br />WHEREAS, other Florida counties with similar experiences have adopted <br />ordinances similar to this ordinance with the result that there has been a dramatic <br />decrease in the number of false alarms; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners determines that it is in the <br />public interest to regulate alarms; and <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance 99-10 adopted regulations governing alarms and <br />Ordinance 9945 extended the effective date of Ordinance 99-10 to allow further <br />review; and <br />WHEREAS, further review has resulted in changes in the alarm regulations, <br />COUNTYNOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />• • OF • <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. <br />a) Current Chapter 301, False Alarms, of the Indian River County Code is <br />hereby amended by entitling present Sections 301.01 through 301.08 "Part I <br />- False Fire Alarms" and by adopting Exhibit A as "Part II - False Alarms - <br />Law Enforcement." <br />SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of this ordinance is <br />for any reason held to be unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding shall not <br />affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been <br />b) <br />Ordinance <br />99-10 <br />and <br />99-15 <br />are <br />hereby <br />repealed. <br />SECTION 2.
