12 / 29 / 98 (ord \ alarm) Ow <br />AN ORDINANCE OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS <br />GOVERNING r RESPONDED TOBY <br />ENFORCEMENT <br />r INDIAN RIVER <br />WHEREAS, up to 99 percent of alarm signals are false alarm signals; and <br />WHEREAS, responding to these false alarms is a waste of manpower; and <br />WHEREAS, other Florida counties with similar experiences have adopted <br />ordinances similar to this ordinance with the result that there has been a dramatic <br />decrease in the number of false alarms; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners determines that it is in the <br />public interest to regulate alarms, <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, that: <br />SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. <br />Current Chapter 301, False Alarms, of the Indian River County Code is <br />hereby amended by entitling present Sections 301.01 through 301.08 "Part I - False Fire <br />Alarms" and by adopting Exhibit A as "Part II - False Alarms - Law Enforcement." <br />SECTION 2. SEVERABILITY. <br />If any section, or any sentence, paragraph, phrase, or word of this ordinance is <br />for any reason held to be unconstitutional, inoperative, or void, such holding shall not <br />affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and it shall be construed to have been <br />the legislative intent to pass the ordinance without such unconstitutional, invalid or <br />inoperative part. <br />
