ADAMS STATED THAT THIS SHOULD BE CORRECTED TO READ FOR EACH <br />ADDITIONAL 100 LINEAL FEET." <br />VICE CHAIRMAN WODTKE NOTED THAT THE PRESENT FEE SCHEDULE IS BASED <br />ON A CUBIC FOOT BASIS.. <br />MR. ADAMS STATED NOW.THAT BUILDING HAS FALLEN OFF, THEY ARE LOSING <br />E <br />MONEY ON THIS BASIS AND HAVE FOUND IT TOTALLY INADEQUATE. $ <br />VICE CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED FOR A COMPARISON OF COSTS -DONE ON THE <br />SQUARE FOOT BASIS AS OPPOSED TO THE CUBIC FOOT BASIS. i. <br />MR. ADAMS STATED THAT ON`A $20,000 HOUSE YOU WOULD PICK UP ABOUT <br />$26.00. THIS WOULD-BE FOR ALL INSPECTIONS, AND ON A 1,390 S(I. FT. HOUSE, <br />THERE WOULD BE 1$ INSPECTIONS, IF EVERYTHING WERE CORRECT THE FIRST TIME. <br />A $60,000 HOUSE WOULD HAVE THE SAME NUMBER OF INSPECTIONS, BUT THE LOWER <br />i <br />PRICE HOUSE WOULD GET A BREAK UNDER THIS SYSTEM, <br />V.%CE..CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED IF MR. ADAMS FELT THE INCREASE IS <br />NECESSARY IN THE COUNTY AS WELL AS THE CITY, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE*RATES <br />WERE JUST INCREASED LAST DECEMBER, <br />MR. ADAMS STATED THAT THE BUILDING DEPARTMENT IS SELF-SUFFICIENT <br />IN THE COUNTY DUE TO THE VOLUME OF BUILDING IN THE COUNTY, BUT IF THERE <br />SHOULD BE A SLUMP, THEY WILL GO INTO THE RED. MR. ADAMS CONTINUED THAT IF <br />THE COUNTY WISHED TO ADOPT ONLY THE FEE SCHEDULE FOR BUILDING PERMITS AS <br />SET OUT IN APPENDIX M OF THE SOUTHERN STANDARD BUILDING CODE, 1974 REVIS- <br />IONS, THIS WOULD KEEP THEM OUT OF THE RED, BUT IF THEY ADOPTED THE TOTAL <br />PACKAGE AS HE HAS PROPOSED, IT WOULD ALLOW FOR A SURPLUS AT THE END OF THE <br />YEAR FOR NEEDED CAPITAL ITEMS. HE FELT THAT THE CITY WILL HAVE TO ADOPT <br />-HIS SUGGESTED REVISIONS SINCE DUE TO THEIR LOW VOLUME OF CONSTRUCTION, <br />THEY ARE NOW $12,000 IN THE RED AND WITHOUT THE COUNTY'S SUPPORT WOULD BE <br />$67,000 IN THE REDO MR. ADAMS POINTED OUT THAT IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO <br />HAVE ONE FEE SCHEDULE FOR BOTH THE CITY AND THE COUNTY, AND NOTED THAT <br />APPENDIX M WOULD GIVE A 237 INCREASE FOR BUILDING PERMITS ONLY. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER STATED THAT HE FELT THE CITY FEE SCHEDULE <br />SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED, AND THEN THE COUNTY COULD DECIDE.IF THEY WANT TO GO <br />HIGH. <br />i <br />AUG 181976 <br />Bear �` 1 <br />
