® � r <br />HAD BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN SECURING PERMITS FOR EXISTING LANDFILLS THAT <br />WERE HAVING PROBLEMS, <br />MR. SEARCY SAID THAT THEY HAD AND NOTED THAT THERE HAD BEEN SOME <br />SITUATIONS WHERE DRAINAGE WAS A DIFFICULTY, AND THEY HAD DEVELOPED A <br />SYSTEM OF PERIPHERAL DRAINAGE DITCHES WHICH IRRIGATED BACK ONTO THE <br />LANDFILL ITSELF AND THUS SPEEDED UP DECOMPOSITION OF THE SITE, <br />COMMISSIONER LOY ASKED IF POST, BUCKLEY, SCHUH & JERNIGAN, INC, <br />HAD ANY EXPERIENCE WITH REGARD TO TH7 SOLID WASTE PORTION OF THE STATE <br />REQUIRED MASTER LAND USE PLAN, <br />MR. SEARCY SAID THAT THEY DID IN SEMINOLE COUNTY AND IN LEE <br />COUNTY, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT NOTED THAT WE MUST CLOSE OUR PRESENT LAND— <br />FILL, WHICH IS IN VIOLATION OF FAA STANDARDS, AND HAVE INSTRUCTED OUR <br />CONSULTING ENGINEER, JAMES BEINDORF, TO INVESTIGATE SITES, BUT HAVE NOT <br />OBTAINED ONE YET. HE ASKED WHETHER IT WOULD BE THEIR PROPOSAL THAT THEY <br />IMMEDIATELY TRY TO SOLVE THE AIRPORT PROBLEM AND WORK WITH MR. BEINDORF <br />ON THIS MATTER. <br />MR. OLNFY STATED THAT THEY WOULD WORK WITH MR, BEINDORF AND <br />DETERMINE JUST WHAT WOULD BE NEEDED TO SOLVE THE IMMEDIATE PROBLEM AND <br />THIS INFORMATION WOULD THEN BE CARRIED OVER INTO THE SOLID WASTE MANAGE— <br />MENT PROGRAM SO THERE WOULD BE NO DUPLICATION, <br />COMMISSIONER SIEBERT ASKED WHETHER THEY GIVE CONSIDERATION TO <br />THE UTILIZATION OF THE LAND WHEN IT CEASES TO BE A LANDFILL OPERATION, <br />MR. SEARCY REPLIED THAT THEY DEFINITELY DO AS THEY WANT TO <br />CREATE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE USED AT A FUTURE DATE, <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER ASKED WHETHER THEY WOULD DETERMINE <br />ACTUAL (QUANTITIES OF WASTE GENERATED IN THIS COUNTY OR JUST USE BASIC <br />AMOUNTS GENERATED BY COMPARATIVE POPULATIONS, <br />MR, OLNEY STATED THAT IF THE COUNTY HAS RECORDS AVAILABLE, <br />THEY WOULD USE THESE; OTHERWISE, THEY WOULD USE STANDARDS THAT ARE <br />FAIRLY CONSISTENT THROUGHOUT FLORIDA, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE ASKED IF THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO UTILIZE INFORMA— <br />TION THAT THE COUNTY COULD MAKE AVAILABLE TO THEM OR WOULD THEY HAVE TO DO <br />A LOT OF THEIR OWN RESEARCH. <br />MR, SEARCY ANSWERED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE A STRATEGY MEETING WITH <br />a <br />9 <br />
