ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER SIEBERT, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />DEESON, CHAIRMAN WODTKE BEING TEMPORARILY ABSENT, THE BOARD GRANTED <br />APPROVAL OF THE PURCHASE OF TWO MOBILE RADIO UNITS AND ONE REMOTE <br />CONTROL UNIT BY THE PROPERTY APPRAISER TO BE TIED INTO THE COUNTY'S <br />RADIO SYSTEM, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE, ADMINISTRATOR JENNINGS AND ATTORNEY COLLINS <br />RETURNED TO THE MEETING AT 2:25 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />HAMILTON ARDEN OF ARDEN INSURANCE SERVICES CAME BEFORE THE <br />BOARD AND STATED HE HAD WRITTEN A LETTER TO FINANCE OFFICER BARTON <br />IN RESPONSE TO A MEMO RECEIVED FROM MR. DONLON REGARDING WORKMEN'S <br />COMPENSATION INSURANCE, BUT NOTED THAT HE DID NOT COME TODAY <br />PREPARED TO MAKE A PRESENTATION AS NO ONE HAD THE COURTESY TO INFORM <br />HIM THAT HE HAD A BID SITUATION FACING HIM. MR. ARDEN STATED <br />THAT HE WAS ASKED TO BE HERE -TODAY TO.ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THE BOARD <br />MIGHT HAVE AS TO RENEWAL OF A POLICY THATiIS CURRENTLY IN FORCE, <br />CHAIRMAN WODTKE STATED THAT WE ARE NOT IN A BID <br />SITUATION- JUST LOOKING AT PROPOSALS. <br />FINANCE OFFICER BARTON STATED THAT HE DID NOT CALL FOR <br />A <br />BIDS, BUT WAS TRYING TO GET AN ACCURATE FIGURE FOR BUDGET <br />INFORMATION SINCE IN THE PAST WE ALWAYS SEEMED TO HAVE A LOWER <br />FIGURE THAN WAS NEEDED FOR WORKMEN'S COMPENSATION. MR, BARTON <br />CONTINUED THAT WHILE HE WAS TRYING TO GATHER THIS INFORMATION, <br />SOMEONE CAME IN AND WISHED TO BRING IN ALTERNATE PROPOSALS. <br />COMMISSIONER SCHMUCKER ASKED HOW MUCH THE ESTIMATES <br />WERE OFF THIS YEAR, AND FINANCE OFFICER BARTON STATED THAT WE HAD <br />TO PAY AN ADDITIONAL $25,000. <br />COMMISSIONER Loy POINTED OUT THAT THE BOARD TODAY IS JUST <br />GOING TO HEAR FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE BEEN ENDORSED BY THE STATE <br />ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS TO PRESENT A PROPOSAL TO MANY <br />OF THE COUNTIES IN REGARD TO SELF-INSURANCE. <br />MR. ARDEN FELT IT POSSIBLY MIGHT BE IN THE BOARD'S FAVOR <br />TO GO INTO A RISK POOL ASSOCIATION, BUT ASKED IF THE BOARD IS <br />AWARE THAT IN THE LAST YEAR THEIR RISK PREMIUM WAS $66,000 AND <br />HIS COMPANY PAID OUT $118,000.
