Bicycle Route (Bike Route) - A segment of a system of bikeways <br />designated by the jurisdiction having authority with appropriate <br />directional and informational markers, with or without a specific <br />bicycle route number. <br />Bikeway - Any road, path, or way which in some manner is <br />specifically designated as being open to bicycle travel, regardless <br />of whether such facilities are designated for the exclusive use of <br />bicycles or are to be shared with other transportation modes. <br />Billboard (Off -Premise Sign) Any sign or framework thereof <br />installed for the purpose of directing the public to the location <br />of a business, residential community, church, institution or civic <br />organization at a place other than a location of the sign. <br />Bite - An action whereby an animal physically breaks the skin of <br />another animal or human with its teeth. <br />Block - A tract of land or group of lots bounded by streets or <br />other well-defined and fixed boundaries. <br />Board - The board of county commissioners of Indian River County. <br />Board of Adjustment - A body authorized to hear and decide <br />variances from the strict application of the land development <br />regulations. <br />Boarding House - An establishment with lodging for five or more <br />persons where meals are regularly prepared andserved for <br />compensation and where food is placed upon the table family style, <br />without service or ordering of individual portions from a menu. <br />Boat - A vehicle designed for operation as a watercraft propelled <br />by oars, sails, or one or more internal combustion engine(s). A <br />boat shall not be considered as a recreational vehicle even though <br />it has facilities for temporary living quarters. <br />Boat Livery - A commercial establishment providing boat hauling or <br />launching facilities, rental of covered or uncovered boat slips or <br />dock space or enclosed dry storage space, rental or sale of boats <br />and boat motors, repair and maintenance of boats and boat motors, <br />sale of marine fuel and lubricants, and as accessory service uses, <br />on -shore restaurants, hotels, or motels, and sale of bait and <br />fishing equipment. The term boat livery includes marinas but shall <br />not be deemed to include boat yards. <br />Boat Slip - A space designed for the mooring of a single <br />watercraft. Such spaces may extend from a dock or shoreline but <br />shall not be allowed to project from a pier. <br />Boat Yard - A premise or site used as an industrial establishment <br />for the provision of all such facilities as are customary and <br />necessary to the construction, reconstruction, repair, or <br />maintenance and accessory sale of boats, marine engines, or marine <br />equipment, supplies, or services of all kinds including, but not <br />15 <br />
