grade, may extend up to four (4) feet into any <br />required yard, provided that no such overhang <br />shall extend to within six (6) feet of any <br />property line. <br />b. Sills and belt courses. Sills, belt courses <br />and similar ornamental features may extend six <br />(6) inches into any required yard. <br />c. Air conditioners and similar mechanical <br />equipment. Air conditioning equipment, <br />sprinkler system controls and similar <br />mechanical equipment (including utility pad <br />mounted equipment) may project into any <br />required yard provided that the equipment is <br />mounted in a manner contiguous to the <br />building. <br />d. Fire escapes, outside stairways, balconies, <br />chimneys and other similar appurtenances. <br />Open or enclosed fire escapes, outside <br />stairways, balconies, and chimneys and flues <br />may project up to four (4) feet into any <br />required yard, provided such projections shall <br />not unduly obstruct light and ventilation. <br />e. Docks and accessory waterfront structures. <br />Docks and other permitted accessory waterfront <br />structures are allowed within required yards, <br />excluding required side yards. <br />f. Swimming pools and related structures. <br />(I) Swimming pools. No swimming pool shall <br />be located closer than ten (10) feet to <br />any rear property line or five (5) feet <br />to any easement for utilities, drainage <br />or access, whichever distance is greater. <br />(II) Special yard situations. <br />a. On corner lots with one yard which <br />abuts a road right-of-way classified <br />as an arterial road on the county's <br />thoroughfare plan map, no swimming <br />pool shall be located closer than <br />ten (10) feet to the property line <br />abutting the arterial road, or five <br />feet to any easement for utilities, <br />drainage, or access, whichever <br />distance is greater, provided that <br />the yard adjacent to the arterial <br />
