Level of Wastewater Treatment - The proportion of solid and organic <br />materials removed from the wastewater. The most common levels of <br />treatment are: primary; secondary; and tertiary. <br />License - Local Occupations - The privilege granted by the local <br />governing authority to engage in or manage any business, profession <br />or occupation within its jurisdiction. It shall not mean any fees <br />or licenses paid to any board, commission or officer for <br />permits,registration, examination or inspection which are hereby <br />deemed to be regulatory and in addition to and not in lieu of any <br />local occupational license imposed under the provisions of this <br />chapter unless otherwise provided by law. <br />Lime Alum Softening - A chemical method of water softening <br />involving the precipitation of calcium and manganese ions. The <br />alum bounds up and causes impurities to precipitate out of the <br />water. <br />Limited Access - Access only at authorized and controlled points <br />or for restricted uses or at restricted times. <br />Link - A portion of a roadway segment located on the Concurrency <br />Determination Network defined by two consecutive intersecting <br />roadways. <br />Link Improvements - A change in the physical or operating <br />characteristics of a portion of a roadway segment that results in <br />increased capacity and/or improvements to the general quality, <br />level of service and safety characteristics of the link. <br />Litter - All garbage, rubbish, garden trash and all waste <br />materials, including, but not limited to, bottles, glass, cans, <br />scrap metal, junk, paper, disposable packages or containers and all <br />other similar materials, and any substance of any kind or nature <br />whatsoever that creates a public health, safety or fire hazard or <br />a public nuisance. <br />Livestock - Horses, mules, cattle, sheep, goats, swine and other <br />grazing animals. <br />Loading Space - A space within the main building or on the same <br />lot, providing for the standing, loading or unloading of vehicles. <br />Local Entertainer - Entertainer who is a permanent resident of, or <br />maintains a permanent place of business in this state. <br />Local Planning Agency (LPA) - Indian River County Planning and <br />Zoning Commission. <br />Lot, Corner - A lot fronting upon two or more rights-of-way at <br />their intersections. <br />Lot, Double Frontage - An interior lot having frontage on two <br />streets. <br />48 <br />
