acceptance of the backfill, construct a base course in accordance with the typical <br />section. Upon completion of the base course, the Contractor shall construct an <br />asphaltic concrete surface course, Type II, in accordance with FDOT Specifications, <br />constructed flush with the adjacent asphalt surfaceSection 332, Articles 332-1 through 332-5. The top of the surface course shall be <br />. Thickness of the replaced <br />course shall match the thickness of the existing surface course. <br />3.05 EMERGENCY REPAIRS AND PROCEDURES <br />The Contractor shall provide the name and telephone number of at least two persons <br />designated by the Contractor to receive notification of the need for emergency repairs. <br />These persons shall be available for emergency notification on a 24 hour basis. The <br />County will provide the name, or names, of its designee who will be charged with giving <br />notice to the Contractor when the need for emergency repairs, or other actions, is <br />necessary on work that has been performed by the Contractor. When so notified by the <br />person so designated by the County that emergency repairs, or other actions, are <br />necessary the Contractor will be given a reasonable time to respond to the situation. At <br />the time of notification the Contractor will give the time that he will be able to take action <br />to rectify the emergency conditions. If this time is <br />not County reserves the right to have the Road & Bridge Division make necessary repairstor <br />take other emergency actions as required to restore the pavement, or take other actions <br />necessary. The County will invoice the Contractor for the actual time and materials used <br />in executing the emergency repairs or actions. This amount will be based upon hourly <br />rates and actual materials cost to the County. The labor rates will be supplied to the <br />Contractor prior to beginning work under this Contract. If the Contractor does not pay the <br />invoice as presented by the County, the County reserves the right to withhold that <br />amount from the Contractor on the Final Pay for this Contract. <br />3.06 SIDEWALK, CONCRETE DRIVEWAY, CURB, AND COMBINED <br />GUTTER REMOVAL AND REPLACEMENT <br />A. SURFACE PREPARATION: <br />1. Remove loose material from the compacted subbase surface <br />before placing concrete. immediately <br />2• Proof -roll prepared subbase surface to check for unstable areas and the <br />need for additional compaction. Do not begin paving work until such <br />conditions have been corrected and are ready to receive paving. Comply <br />with requirements of FDOT Section 230, Paragraph 230-6. <br />B. Do not place concrete until subbase and forms have been checked for line and <br />grade. Moisten if required to provide a uniform dampened condition at the time <br />concrete is placed. Do not place concrete around manholes or other structures <br />until they are completed to required finish elevation and alignment. All concrete <br />driveways shall be FDOT Class 1 and a minimum of 6 inches thick with wire or <br />fiber mesh reinforcement. All sidewalks shall be a minimum of 4 inches thick, <br />shall be sawcut every 5 feet, and shall have an expansion joint every 30 feet. <br />1. Place concrete using methods which prevent segregation of the mix. <br />Consolidate concrete along the face of forms and adjacent to transverse <br />joints with an internal vibrator. Keep vibrator away from joint <br />02576-5 <br />
