with drainage system improvements, new development in those areas will meet the current <br />stormwater management and water quality standards of the county and regulatory agencies. That <br />new development will also be required to meet the minimum finished floor elevations <br />established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. <br />Improvements required within individual drainage basins are identified in the Stormwater <br />Management Sub -Element. To ensure that new development meets existing drainage and <br />stormwater management requirements, the county planning and public works departments <br />coordinate all development proposals with the appropriate water control and water management <br />districts. Going forward, the county should continue to regulate development in flood prone <br />areas in a manner that is consistent with the National Flood Insurance Program. <br />Future Land Use Element 129 <br />
