JUL 15 BOQK �-��. ��. ` <br />19 1 P,,,, 842 <br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE REPORT <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD SPOKE TO THE BOARD ABOUT VISITING 36 <br />PARKS AND RECREATION SITES LAST THURSDAY. HE COMPLIMENTED PARK <br />SUPERINTENDENT BILL COOK ON THE FINE JOB HE DID IN HANDLING THE ENTIRE <br />ITINERARY. COMMISSIONER BIRD COMMENTED THAT ROUND ISLAND PARK AND THE <br />TRACKING STATION WERE NOT VISITED, AS MANY IN THE PARTY HAD BEEN <br />THERE RECENTLY.- HE SPOKE OF HOW IMPRESSED HE WAS BY THE COUNTY - <br />MAINTAINED PARKS - THEY WERE FRESHLY MOWED AND HE SAW NO EVIDENCE <br />OF ANY TRASH PROBLEM. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN, HE NOTED IT <br />WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE COUNTY IS LACKING IN FACILITIES SUCH AS RESTROOMS <br />AND PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. ALL OF THIS INFORMATION WILL BE HELPFUL <br />IN DEVELOPING A MASTER PLAN, WHICH WILL BE DISCUSSED AT THE NEXT <br />MEETING. COMMISSIONER BIRD ADVISED THAT ENGINEER JIM DAVIS WILL <br />BEGIN WORKING ON A GRANT APPLICATION BECAUSE OF ITS TECHNICAL NATURE. <br />CHAIRMAN LYONS REPORTED THAT HE ,MET..WITH MAYOR NdLIAN ALONG <br />WITH THE ADMINISTRATOR AND BILL COOK AT THE TRACKING STATION PARK <br />AND COULD NOT FIND THE TRASH THAT WAS REPORTED ON THE BEACH. HE DID <br />SUGGEST THAT SINCE THERE IS NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY IN THIS AREA, -THE <br />COUNTY SHOULD -PUT UP A SIGN FOR PEOPLE TO SWIM AT THEIR OWN RISK. <br />HE THEN ASKED COMMISSIONER BIRD TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER OF ADEQUATE <br />PARKING AT WABASSO BEACH. <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD ALSO REPORTED THAT ALL THE IMPROVEMENTS <br />THAT THE BOARD RECENTLY AUTHORIZED FOR THE GIFFORD PARK HAVE ALL BEEN <br />COMPLETED. <br />THE BOARD EXPRESSED APPRECIATION FOR ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE. <br />27DINATION OF TRANSPORTATION OF DISADVANTAGED <br />THE BOARD NEXT REVIEWED THE FOLLOWING MEMORANDUM FROM <br />ADMINISTRATOR NELSON: <br />
