WE HAVE RECEIVED MANY LETTERS FROM TAMPA ARMATURE REPORTING HOW, IN <br />THE PROCESS OF TESTING, THE ENGINE KEPT BREAKING DOWN. THEY NOW HAVE <br />APPROACHED US, THROUGH THE CONTRACTOR, WITH A PROPOSAL ON A USED UNIT <br />FOR A TOTAL OF $I1,OIO.12. THE MONEY SPENT IN TESTING THE ORIGINAL <br />GENERATOR WAS DEDUCTED FROM THE ASKING PRICE OF THE USED UNIT, WHICH <br />WAS $14,000, MR. KONTOULAS CONTINUED THAT THE USED UNIT WOULD HAVE <br />THE COMPLETE AUTOMATION ORIGINALLY AUTHORIZED; THE OLD UNIT WAS WAR <br />SURPLUS AND HAD PASSED ITS 20 YEARS OF SERVICE. <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD ASKED HOW WE KNOW THAT $14,000 IS A REASON- <br />ABLE PRICE, AND MR, KONTOULAS STATED THAT A NEW UNIT WOULD BE $26,00. <br />HE NOTED THAT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY CANNOT FIND AN ENGINE THAT WILL <br />FIT THE OLD GENERATOR. <br />COMMISSIONER BIRD FELT WE SHOULD HAVE THE OLD GENERATOR <br />RETURNED, AND MR. SNODGRASS DID NOT KNOW IF THAT WAS PART OF THE DEAL, <br />BUT HE FELT IF THE BOARD WISHED TO HAVE IT BACK, SOMETHING COULD BE <br />WORKED OUT. <br />MR. KONTOULAS INFORMED THE BOARD THAT THIS.GENERATOR WOULD <br />OPERATE THE TWO ELEVATORS, EXIT LIGHTS AND LIGHTS IN EACH ROOM AND THE <br />COORIDORS IF THE POWER SHOULD GO OFF. <br />ON MOTION BY COMMISSIONER FLETCHER, SECONDED BY COMMISSIONER <br />SCURLOCK, THE BOARD UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED CHANGE ORDER N0. 62 - COUNTY <br />ADMINISTRATION BUILDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,010.12, WITH THE NORMAL <br />STIPULATION THAT BY APPROVING THE CHANGE ORDER THE COUNTY DOES NOT <br />WAIVE ANY RIGHTS IT HAS TO CLAIM DAMAGES AGAINST THE CONTRACTOR OR THE <br />ARCHITECT BECAUSE OF OMISSIONS OR OTHER.REASONS THAT MAY ARISE. <br />59 <br />- BOOK - 7 PAGE "m <br />
