Building Ordinance continued: <br />-3- <br />9. Board of Adjustments and Appeals - Appointment. Section 111. 1 <br />is amended to read: <br />"There is hereby established a board to be called the Board of <br />Adjustments and Appeals, which shall consist of five (5) members. Said <br />Board shall be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners of Indian <br />River County, Florida, by Resolution. " <br />10. Term of Office. Section 111. 2 is amended to read: <br />"The members of the Board of Adjustment and Appeals shall <br />serve such terms as established by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of Indian River County, Florida, by Resolution. " <br />11. Chapter III, Fire Districts, is repealed. <br />12. Footings and Foundations - General. Section 1302. 1 is amended <br />to read: <br />"Except in the case of temporary structures, .footings and <br />foundations unless specifically provided, shall be constructed of grillages <br />of steel, of masonry or of reinforced concrete in no case less than 12 inches <br />below grade. The use of monolithic poured slabs and footings shall be <br />permitted in accordance with sound construction practices and shall be <br />permitted where justified. Masonry units used in foundation walls and <br />footings shall be laid up in Type M, S, or IV mortar. The base areas of <br />all footings and foundations shall be proportioned as specified in Section <br />1302. 3. " , <br />13. Appendix "D" - Hurricane Requirements. The provisions of <br />Appendix "D" - Hurricane Requirements - are declared to be mandatory. <br />14. Electrical Code. <br />Section 1. Title. The provisions in this article shall constitute <br />and may be cited as "The Electrical Code" hereinafter referred to as "this <br />code. " <br />Section 2. Code Remedial. This code is rer._,edial and shall be <br />construed to secure the beneficial interests and purpose's thereof - which are <br />public safety, health and general welfare - through safety to life and <br />property from fire and other incidents to the installation, alteration, repair <br />and maintenance of electrical wiring appartus or equipment for lights, heat <br />power and other uses or purposes. <br />Section 3. Scope. <br />(1) The previsions of this code shall apply to all electrical <br />construction, installation, alteration or repair and to all electrical equip- <br />ment and materials used, connected to or installed in any building, structure <br />or appurtenance subject to this ordinance as well as the maintenance therdof. <br />(2) No provision of this code shall be held to deprive any <br />federal or state agency or any applicable governing body having jurisdiction <br />of any pov,er or authority which it had on the effective date of this ordinance <br />or of any remedy then existing for the enforcement of its orders, nor shall <br />it deprive any individual or corporation of its legal rights as provided by law. <br />
