OF HIGHWAY SAFETY & MOTOR VEHICLES <br />Administrator Nelson reviewed the following memo: <br />TO: The Honorable Members of DATE: October 28, 1981 FILE: <br />the Board of County Commissioners <br />SUBJECT: Proposed lease agreement - <br />State Department of Highway <br />Safety & Motor Vehicles - <br />Driver's License Division <br />FROM: Neil A. Nelson REFERENCES: <br />County Administrator <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />Attached please find copy of proposed lease agreement and covenants. The <br />attached agreement is appropriate for consideration at this time and is based <br />upon prior decisions made concerning allocation of space when the Indian River <br />Memorial Hospital Building was renovated.. Space was allocated for the Driver's <br />License Division. <br />The proposed agreement generally conforms to the one discussed at the last <br />County Commission meeting. However, it does include items and phraseology <br />that are imposed by the state. Thws, the agreement is structured in a manner <br />that would provide proper treatment of those clauses that the County deems <br />necessary as well as being written to insure acceptance by the state. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The proposed agreement is written for a 5 year period commencing on December 1, <br />1981, with the first years rate being established at $8.72 per square foot per <br />annum. The agreement provides for escalation at a rate of 10°11) per year. Thus. <br />by December 1, 1985 to and including November 30 1986, the rate would escalate <br />to $12.77 per square foot. <br />The matter of renewal of the lease is subject to written notice and negotiation <br />prior to the expiration as provided in article I of the lease. The agreement <br />has been reviewed by the staff to include the County Attorney. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />It is recommended that the County Commission approve the attached agreement and <br />authorize the appropriate County officials to execute the agreement on the <br />County's behalf. <br />IF <br />� � r <br />
