APR <br />141982 <br />-PAE 394 <br />out -of -county travel <br />for members of the sub -committee of the <br />Public Safety Committee to visit jails and study the various <br />construction used. <br />On Motion by Commissioner Lyons, seconded by <br />Commissioner Wodtke, the Board by a 4 to 1 vote, <br />Commissioner Fletcher voting in opposition, approved <br />out -of -County travel for Commissioner Lyons, Engineer Jim <br />Davis, Captain Baird and Art Scheeren, all members of the <br />sub -committee of the Public Safety Committee, to visit jails <br />in Gainesville and in Daytona Beach. <br />DISCUSSION RE LIGHT AT ENTRANCE TO MUELLER CENTER <br />Commissioner Wodtke wished to know if the Commission <br />would consider installation of a street light at the <br />entrance to Lundberg Road off of Kings Highway, the entrance <br />to the local branch of the community college, which is an <br />extremely dark corner located on the edge of a main canal. <br />He informed the Board that there are streetlights at the <br />intersection of 8th Street and Kings Highway, as well as <br />12th Street and Kings Highway, for which the County is <br />paying, and he believed we could justify the cost of a <br />Florida Power &,Light streetlight at the Mueller Center <br />intersection for the safety of the college students. <br />Commissioner Bird concurred and suggested having a <br />Motion to that effect. <br />Commissioner Lyons stated that he would prefer a Motion <br />to have this referred to the Transportation Planning <br />Committee so that a consistent policy could be formulated. <br />Commissioner Fletcher appreciated the desire for such a <br />light, but felt it could start a precedent. He believed the <br />college could afford the minimal cost of such a light. <br />Commissioner Wodtke pointed out that the light is <br />desired for the college and the safety of the public, and he <br />
