Contract for Work Site <br />Acting County Administrator <br />FROM: Lynn Williams REFERENCES' <br />Acting General Services Director <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />J.A.S.P. (Juvenile Alternative Services Program) has approached the Staff <br />for cooperation in providing a Community Service Work Site for children <br />who have voluntarily been made the responsibility of the HRS under the <br />J.A.S.P. Program. The Program is intended to serve youths charged with <br />delinquency violation and act as a meaningful dispositional alternative - <br />to Juvenile Court. J.A.S.P. is funded by HRS under the auspices of <br />Juvenile Services Program, Inc., a non-profit Florida corporation providing <br />services to youths in Indian River and St. Lucie Counties as well as others <br />throughout the State. In most cases, satisfactory completion of the program <br />will provide an opportunity to earn dismissal of the pending charges, divert- <br />ing the youth from the judicial process. <br />Youth are assigned a professional counselor who conducts individual or group <br />counseling sessions. Along with the counseling, they are assigned a specified <br />number of hours in service to public and private agencies who must pf°ovide ' <br />on-site supervision. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />This program is in search of several work sites with varied possibilities <br />for work assignments. Staff discussed with J.A.S.P. representatives the <br />type of work and/or responsibilities applicable to these youths. Lawn <br />maintenance, filing clerk duties, telephone switchboard, painting, and <br />custodial are areas of possible work assignment. <br />JUN 16 1992 <br />24 SO Ulu <br />
