J U L 2 11982' <br />TO: Board of County Com- <br />missioners <br />0 <br />FROM: Liz Forlani <br />DATE: July 12, 1982 <br />.5Q ?Af- 2 <br />FILE: <br />SUBJECT: Appointment to new Local <br />Health Council <br />REFERENCES: <br />I talked with J.B. Norton today regarding the new law which <br />will replace the present nine local Health Planning Agencies with <br />eleven new local Health Councils and which will become effective <br />October 1, 1982. <br />Mr. Norton was appointed by the County Commissioners, as <br />their representative to the Health Planning Council, and is <br />currently Serving as President. Mr. W. Harold Hicks grid Mr. John <br />Hoyt are also members on the present Council representing Indian <br />River County. They were recommended for appointment to the <br />Council by various groups in the community. Under the new <br />legislation, Indian River County will have only have one <br />representative who has been appointed by the County Commission. <br />Mr. Norton stated that Health & Rehabilitative Services has <br />suggested that he continue to serve during this transitional <br />period since he is familiar with the procedure to be used to <br />close out the old Agency and activate the new Council and Mr. <br />Norton advised me that he would be agreeable to remaining as the <br />County's representative. <br />Mr. Norton continued that the Board's action should be in <br />the form of a Resolution and that it be done as soon as possible. <br />ON MOTION MADE BY Commissioner Lyons, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Wodtke, the Board unanimously <br />approved the appointment of J. B. Norton as <br />the County Commission representative to the <br />Health Planning Council. <br />PARCEL OWNED BY MR. DeVIVO - DISCUSSION <br />The County Attorney explained the situation concerning <br />the 1.84 acre parcel, owned by Mr. DeVivo in the North <br />County, which is in the midst of a considerable amount of <br />controversy.
