platting of land; to ensure proper legal descriptions and <br />monumenting of subdivided land; and <br />j) the preservation of the natural beauty and topog- <br />raphy of the County; and <br />k) provisions for safe and sanitary sewage disposal, <br />adequate potable water supplies and the protection of the ground- <br />water system. <br />SECTION 5 <br />DEFINITION OF TERMS <br />Except where specific definitions are used, the follow- <br />ing terms, phrases, words and their derivations have the meaning <br />given herein. Words used in the present tense include the future, <br />words in the plural number include the singular number and words <br />in the singular number include the plural number. The words "used <br />for" shall mean "designed for". The words "shall" and "will" are <br />mandatory and the word "may" is permissive. <br />1) ABUTTING PROPERTY. Any property that is immediately <br />adjoining or contiguous to property that is subject to review <br />under this ordinance. <br />2) ADJACENT PROPERTY. Any property that is near but <br />not necessarily sharing a common point of intersection with <br />property under review. It may be separated from the property <br />under review by streets, alleys or other public improvements. <br />3) ADJOINING PROPERTY. Any property that shares a <br />common point of intersection with the property under considera- <br />tion. <br />4) ALLEY. Any right-of-way primarily designed to serve <br />as a secondary access to the property abutting the alley. <br />5) APPLICANT. The owner of land subject to review <br />under this ordinance or his authorized representative. <br />6) BIKEPATH. A bikeway that is physically separated <br />from other travelways and is intended for the exclusive use of <br />bicycles. <br />7) BIKEWAY. Any road, path or other means which is <br />specifically designed for bicycle travel whether shared with other <br />means of travel or exclusively for bike use. <br />-4- <br />
