r 50 R-if D <br />AUG 4 1982 <br />However, the Transportation Planning.Committee voted in favor of signalizing the <br />subject intersection because of an increased margin of safety provided by signal- <br />ization and because of the recent series of fatal collisions. <br />A more detailed investigation into potential benefits provided by signalization <br />was conducted by the Traffic Engine@ -ring staff. Comparison of accident frequency <br />and collision patterns occurring at Oslo Road/27th Avenue (currently signalized) <br />with the subject intersection revealed no significant change in the frequency <br />of accidents (see table below and attached collision diagrams). <br />May 1980 - May 1982 <br />Oslo Road/ 27th Avenue Oslo Road 43rd Avenue <br />Property Damage Only 4 1 <br />Injury + Fatality 2 4 <br />Total 6 5 <br />Traffic Control Signal Beacon <br />MOTION WAS MADE BY Commissioner Wodtke, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Bird, that the Board approve the <br />recommendation of the Public Works Director, as <br />indicated in his memorandum of July 23, 1982. <br />Mr. Davis pointed out that staff's recommendation was <br />not the recommendation of the Transportation Planning <br />committee. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. It <br />was voted on with a vote of 4 to 1, with <br />Commissioner Fletcher voting in opposition. <br />IMPROVEMENTS TO 14TH ST.
