, 1 <br />PART III. <br />Section 401.20 <br />AMENDMENTS TO.NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE <br />Construction and application of the National <br />Electrical code <br />(1) The provision of this code shall apply to any electrical <br />construction, installation, alteration, repair, electrical <br />equipment, or material connected to or installed in any <br />building, structure or appurtenance subject to this article as <br />well as maintenance thereof. <br />12) All plans shall have the stamp of approval of the electrical <br />inspector before a construction permit is issued. <br />(3) If an existing wiring system whichdoe�orm tie <br />present code is remodeled or added to and such changes cover <br />more than 50 per cent of the nonconforming existing system, <br />then the entire system shall be reconstructed to conform to <br />this code. <br />(4) A circuit of an existing system which does not conform to this <br />code shall not be extended or added to until the entire <br />circuit shall have been reconstructed to conform to this code. <br />Section 401.21 Electrical maintenance <br />All electrical systems, wiring, materials, devices, and apparatus <br />as now existing, or as hereater—installed, shall be maintained in <br />a safe condition. The owner shall be responsible for such <br />maintenance. <br />Section 401.22 Service entrance standards <br />(1) Service masts shall be run in galvanized rigid conduit and <br />shall be a minimum 2 inch trade size. <br />(2) All conduit exposed to the elements shall be galvanized rigid <br />conduit or schedule 80 PVCL.Service entrance conductors shall <br />be installed in conduit. <br />31 )1Meter rooms shall be provided in all buildings of multiple <br />occupancy ( 4 or more occupancies) and shall have the following <br />inside minimum dimensions: 4_ to 8 meters - 4 feet by 6 feet by <br />7 feet. If the electrical requirements or demand is larger, <br />the meter room shall. be increased accordingly. This meter <br />room may be reduced in depth providing doors are installed the <br />same width as the requirement. All meter rooms shall be <br />equipped with ventilated door(s). The meter room shall be <br />accessible to the power company and to all occupants of the <br />building at all times. The meter room shall be provided with <br />adequate ventilation.
