Commissioner Wodtke suggested there be an option that <br />if the Judge decided he really needed to maintain his office <br />in the Welfare Building, he be permitted to do so, while <br />his courtroom would be at the Courthouse. He felt this <br />would partially solve his problem and allow a transitional- <br />type of a move. <br />Chairman Scurlock felt the Motion was broad ' enough <br />as it cuts off the funds to rent additional court space, <br />and the Board would expect him to hold court in the facility <br />it had provided. The Chairman continued that if the Judge <br />wanted to keep his office at the Welfare Building and then <br />conduct court in the Courthouse, he would have that flexibility. <br />Commissioner Bird stated that he would go along with <br />the Motion. His only problem was that the Welfare Building <br />was rather a deplorable place, since the Judge does conduct <br />hearings and other judicial business in his office over and <br />above what he does in the courtroom. Commissioner Bird did <br />not think the office really met the standards he hoped the <br />Board would set for its judicial system in the County - but, <br />all of this would have to be taken one step at a time. <br />Commissioner Lyons asked Freda Wright, Clerk of the <br />Court, how much of an additional problem it would be if the <br />Judge would maintain his office in the Welfare Building <br />and the court in the Courthouse. <br />Mrs. Wright commented that if the Judge would be <br />having hearings in the Welfare Building, her Deouty Clerks <br />would have to continue to transport cases back and forth <br />to the Judge, which was an added expense. <br />Commissioner Lyons did not think the transporting back <br />and forth of cases ought to be done. <br />Discussion was held regarding the recording facilities <br />and there had been.a complaint about the availability of <br />
