r <br />Chairman Scurlock felt some of the problem originated <br />from the District setting such a low millage rate in the <br />first place. <br />Commissioner Wodtke asked who would own the fire <br />station building, and Mr. Adams informed the Board that the <br />City gave them the property, but if it is not used for a <br />fire station, the property reverts back to the City. <br />Commissioner Bird asked if anyone has approached <br />General Development as he believed they benefit greatly from <br />the services of the Fire Department. <br />Mr. Adams stated that they did approach General <br />Development about five months ago, but building activity was <br />down and they did not feel they could contribute at that <br />time. <br />Discussion followed regarding the problems involved in <br />the County donating to the Fire Department which is funded <br />by the taxing district, and Commissioner Lyons asked if the <br />Fire Department would get $16,000 if the County donated , <br />$8,000. <br />Mr. Adams explained that the City of Sebastian already <br />has donated to the Ambulance Squad, and they will only match <br />what is given to the Fire Department. <br />The alternative of donating to the Ambulance Squad was <br />suggested, and Mr. Adams believed the Fire Department would <br />be in favor o -f whatever way this could be accomplished. <br />Commissioner Fletcher explained that at budget time <br />building a fire station was discussed; at that time, <br />however, it was the desire of the Sebastian Fire Department <br />that they own the building and do the building themselves. <br />As a result, the budget did not include any capital <br />expenditures for building. <br />Mr. Adams informed the Board that the problem was that <br />the North County Volunteers believed if they built a new <br />NOV 17 1982 <br />ffi- <br />MOK <br />FA EJ"r- <br />
