Telegrams supporting the rezoning from: <br />Katherine Watson <br />Tom and Sue Tatterson <br />Bobby Dyer <br />Lou Higgins <br />Attorney Michael O'Haire came before the Board on <br />behalf of the applicant, Southeast Enterprises, and handed <br />out back-up material to members of the Commission, <br />consisting of three folders of pictures, plus declaration of <br />restriction, financial statement of Cardinal Groves, and a <br />proposed layout of the "Vero Vista" project. <br />Attorney O'Haire contended that the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission's recommendation of denial was based on the <br />emotionalism generated by the residents of River Shores, a <br />—— .Zsingle family residential area to the north of the subject <br />property. Mr. O'Haire then made his presentation in support <br />of the project, emphasizing the developer's reputation and <br />successful track record and the fact that all the principals <br />are themselves architects and planners. He stressed that <br />the proposed rezoning conforms completely with the Master <br />Plan designation and pointed out that if this property is <br />rezoned in conformance with the`Mast'tGr Plan, the developer <br />will have to front the money to extend the water mains from <br />Oslo Road down to this property, which, in turn, will <br />considerably broaden the base of utility users for the <br />County's new water plant. <br />It <br />Mr. O'Haire then detailed the existing commercial uses <br />in the area, including a flea market and a mobile home <br />subdivision, pictures of which are contained in the folders <br />submitted to the Board, and felt that the low density <br />residential his clients are proposing would improve the <br />area. Mr. O'Haire next reviewed the layout of the proposed <br />project, informing those present that the two basic <br />objections raised by River Shores residents at the Planning <br />& Zoning.
