J AN 5 198-3 488 <br />Commissioner Fletcher continued to debate the need for <br />a lay person to reflect a non-professional's opinion, and <br />0 <br />Chairman Bird noted that the issue before the Board right <br />now is to add two more members, and he felt we can get into <br />the other question at the time we decide who those members <br />are to be. <br />Attorney Brandenburg reviewed the proposed modification <br />which would add a new sentence in Section 1 under the <br />paragraph headed Board of Adjustment and Appeals - <br />Appointment: "Membership of the Board shall consist of at <br />least one architect, one engineer, one general contractor, <br />and four members with extensive experience in the building <br />industry." <br />Commissioner Fletcher questioned the use of the word <br />"extensive." <br />The Chairman asked if anyone present wished to be <br />heard. There were none. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Lyons, the Board unanimously <br />closed the public hearing. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Scurlock, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Fletcher, to adopt <br />Ordinance 83-1 with the modification out- <br />lined by the Attorney; also changing the <br />name of the Board to the Building Code Board <br />of Adjustment and Appeals and deleting the <br />word "extensive." <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested that we might have as one <br />of the seven members, the Chairman of the other appeals <br />board, i.e., the chairperson of the Board of Adjustments <br />(Variance Board) would serve as one of the seven members of <br />13 <br />
