Department's existing budget; said funding <br />to be available contingent on having some <br />vehicle which will provide the County opportunity <br />for public input. <br />REPORT ON TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Scurlock gave the following report: <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />April 12, 1983 <br />1. Intersection Study: 41st Street/43rd Avenue <br />Committee approved staff recommendation-Eo—install an aerial <br />flashing beacon and widen the 41st Street approaches to <br />improve truck traffic flow. Budgeted funds are available to, <br />install an aerial flashing beacon (estimated at $5,000) and <br />perform the road widening (estimated at $8,000). <br />2. Barrier Island Traffic Study <br />Zero Beach City Coundil has approved development of <br />engineering drawings to widen SR AlA to three lanes north <br />of Beachland Blvd. County Engineering Department is <br />currently developing plans for the road section in the <br />unincorporated area. <br />3. Intersection Study: 17th Street/6th Avenue <br />Improvements approved by the Committee and Board last fall <br />are being implemented. Phasing has been changed and <br />lengthening of the left -turn lanes on 17th Street are <br />scheduled for construction during FY 83-84 by FDOT. <br />4. Traffic Signal Projects: Discussion and Prioritization for <br />Fiinrli nrr <br />Committee unanimously agreed that funding for the flashing <br />beacon ($5000) for 41st Street/43rd Avenue be considered in <br />this year's budget. It was further agreed that the two <br />remaining projects be funded 100% by the County (Old Dixie <br />and SW 20th and Old Dixie and 8th Street) & be included in <br />the County's FY 83/84 budget. It was also agreed that the <br />funding schedule and status for the other traffic signal <br />projects be approved as listed in the Traffic Signal <br />Projects handout. <br />5. Barber Bridge Operations <br />Committee directed staff to continue work evaluating traffic <br />flow/bridge opening conflicts and to apply to the Coast Guard <br />for changes in regulations. <br />6. State Road 60 "Twin Parr" Project <br />Committee offered support to the Vero <br />Chamber of Commerce for advancement in <br />project by FDOT. <br />63 <br />Beach Council and <br />scheduling of this <br />BOUK 53 PAGE 291 <br />
