V <br />the transferred employees that is posted to the City's books as <br />unused as of September 30, 1983. The accrual rate of sick and <br />annual leave shall be in accordance with the rate established for <br />all County employees of similar rank and tenure as of October 1, <br />1983 and thereafter. Tenure shall be defined as that tare of <br />continuous service with both the City and the County that is <br />unbroken except for this change in status wherein the City - <br />County Building Department becomes the County - City Building <br />Department. <br />10. PENSION. The employees transferred to the <br />Department shall be given a thirty (30) day option to join the <br />Florida Retirement System or remain in the Municipal Pension Plan <br />of the City. Such election will be irrevocable except as provided <br />in each plan for any change in status. The Department agrees to <br />pay annually the actuarial amount -necessary to maintain the trans- <br />ferred employees status in the municipal retirement system plus <br />any fee associated with calculating a specific employee's cost <br />from the other employees. The County further agrees to deduct the <br />employee portion of the City pension from his/her salary and remit <br />same to the City bi-weekly or in accordance with any successor pay <br />plan of the County. Seniority in the plan will be the continuous <br />employment of the employee with the City and as a transferred <br />employee with the County, any subsequent break in service as a <br />County employee (after October 1, 1983) will be considered as a <br />termination from the City pension plan and the plan provisions <br />will be implemented accordingly. All employees under the Florida <br />Retirement System will abide by the rules of that plan. <br />11. LIFE INSURANCE. The City currently provides life <br />insurance coverage as a fringe benefit at a higher rate than the <br />County. As of the date of transfer the employee shall be entitled <br />to the same coverage as any existing County employee of similar <br />tenure and rank. <br />12. HOSPITALIZATION INSURANCE. The transferred <br />employees will become members in good standing of the <br />Hospitalization and Medical plan offered to County employees on <br />the date of transfer.
