the radio equipment for the Ambulance <br />Squad as requested. <br />Additional discussion followed in regard to putting <br />this matter on the agenda of the next South County Fire <br />Advisory Board meeting. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION. <br />It was voted on and carried unanimously. <br />REPORT ON SEAGRASS PRESERVATION COMMITTEE <br />Commissioner Lyons informed the Board that the Seagrass <br />Preservation and Restoration Committee had their organiza- <br />tional meeting. He reported that this committee is made of <br />people with a great deal of expertise in this area as set <br />out in the following memo: <br />SEA GRASS PRESERVATION AND RESTORATION COMMITTEE <br />RAY FERNALD, Chairman Biologist Supervisor with Florida Game & Fresh <br />Water Fish Commission in the office of <br />Environmental Services in Vero Beach. This <br />office is responsible for reviewing environmental <br />impact statements, dredge and fill applications <br />from the Corps of Engineers and DER, etc. <br />They are a reviewing agency and make recommenda- <br />tions on the wetlands or submerged grass beds <br />on development impacts to various permitting <br />agencies. <br />By. training he is. a Wildlife Ecologist and <br />his experience with grass beds has been <br />professional via getting involved in the permitti, <br />process over the last 5a years. <br />He is President of the Audubon Society, and <br />a sport fisherman. <br />He deals with grass bed ecology professionally <br />on a day to day basis. <br />GEORGE BORDEN President of Vero Beach Angler's Club. He has <br />been asked to Chair a Committee to investigate <br />establishing an auxiliary patrol. <br />JACK JACKSON Owner/operator of Vero Tackle and Sports Shop. <br />He is a sport fisherman. He has a B.S. degree <br />in Analytical Chemistry and a Master's degree <br />in Plant Protection and Herbicides Application <br />investigation. <br />RICHARD THOMAS B. S. degree in Mathematics, Masters degree <br />in Biological Science, Marine Ecology, <br />Environmental Science. He has a Specialists <br />degree in Environmental Science and is currently <br />working on his PhD in Marine Biology.
