same requirements as other trades which require competency <br />testing. <br />Commissioner Wodtke urged that this matter be addressed <br />and that after proper review, an ordinance be adopted to <br />require testing and licensing in order to protect the <br />consumers. <br />Commissioner Scurlock felt that was an excellent <br />recommendation and would be tremendous asset to the County. <br />Unfortunately, there are consumers out there who assume that <br />a $6 license makes a contractor an expert. <br />Administrator Wright stated they would be glad to come <br />back with something on this on two different levels: <br />1) Licensing and competency testing. <br />2) Occupational licensing. <br />Commissioner Wodtke reported that apparently the State <br />requires only that the contractors register with the State, <br />and competency requirements are left up to local <br />government. <br />Commissioner Lyons stated he would like to see this <br />include swimming pool contractors.
