0 CT -19 1933 55 ma 1 <br />person or two. Their workload has increased to the extent <br />that he frequently has to act as assistant Utilities <br />Director. The Administrator reported that Director Pinto is <br />being heavily recruited by private industry and it is <br />possible the County will lose him. He wanted a second <br />person in there, and if the Board concurs, he would like to <br />go with him now. <br />Commissioner Bowman asked if Attorney Brandenburg would <br />like to have another law clerk or another person in that <br />office. Attorney Brandenburg replied that when the time <br />comes that the Board wanted to expand the legal office by <br />adding another law clerk, that would entail another <br />secretary and additional space, which would be a <br />considerable expense. He did not think the Board wanted to <br />bite that big of a bullet at this time. <br />Commissioner Lyons suggested that some of the functions <br />in the Legal Dept. be transferred to other departments, such <br />as the Utilities Dept. <br />Commissioner Scurlock recommended that the County enter <br />a contractual agreement with Attorney Brandenburg and that <br />the County Attorney's compensation be raised to the same <br />level as the County Administrator. <br />Attorney Brandenburg stated that the County's growth <br />demands more and more time of his staff; a good example of <br />that is the transfer of the City/County Building Dept. and <br />the addition of their legal matters. He was certain that <br />the Legal Dept. would have to be expanded sometime in the <br />future, but that would be the decision of the Board. <br />Commissioner Lyons felt that Attorney Brandenburg would <br />be the best judge in the matter. <br />Chairman Bird understood that Administrator Wright <br />would get back to the Board with some recommendations re the <br />Utility Dept. personnel. He praised Attorney Brandenburg's <br />efforts and achievements in the beach acquisitions and the <br />22 <br />_ M M <br />
