He felt <br />that the responsibilities of other staff members do not <br />increase as proportionately. <br />Commissioner Wodtke suggested the wording, "in any <br />event, the increase shall be no less than the percentage <br />increase given to the other County employees." <br />Commissioners Scurlock and Lyons agreed that they <br />preferred it the way it stood. <br />Chairman Bird felt that we really could not come up <br />with a more reasonable barometer. <br />Commissioner Wodtke 'personally felt that the County <br />Commissioners' salaries of $17,00 were too high. He stated <br />that here again it is a numbers game and you are talking big <br />dollars when you give a 6% increase in salaries at $17,000 <br />and $48,000. <br />Attorney 'Brandenburg advised that it is a state-wide <br />barometer of how the State has done, including increases in <br />population in our County and such factors as inflation. <br />Commissioner Wodtke wished to vote for the contract, <br />but first wanted the opportunity to state his disagreement <br />on certain items. <br />MOTION WAS MADE by Commissioner Wodtke, <br />SECONDED by Commissioner Scurlock, that the <br />Board change the contract of the Attorney/ <br />Administrator under Item 2 to read: "and shall <br />in any event be no less than the percentage <br />increase given to other County employees. <br />Under discussion, Commissioner Scurlock pointed out <br />that the County already has a 2 -year contract with the fire. <br />fighters, calling for a 6% increase in fiscal year 1984-85. <br />36 <br />
