Fr'_ <br />MAY 2 31984 BOOK 5- PAGE 249 <br />SUMMARY OF ACTIONS <br />TRANSPORTATION PLANNING COMMITTEE <br />May 8, 1984 <br />1. Intersection Study - 8th Street at 20th Avenue: <br />Committee accepted staff recommendation to improve sight - <br />distance and maintain existing control s. Directed staff <br />to survey the intersection and report back in 60 days. <br />2. Road Lighting: <br />Committee accepted staff recommendations to install street <br />lights at (1) 58th Avenue at Lundburg Road, (2) 3rd St. SW <br />at 6th Dr. SW, and(3) the south US 1 corridor between lst <br />Street and 17th Street. The FDOT will be requested to <br />investigate lighting along the US 1 corridor. The other <br />two locations will be submitted in a memorandum at a later <br />date after.evaluation of existing lights in the three street <br />lighting districts. <br />3. County Road 512 Corridor: <br />Committee discussed the status of the sale of railroad right- <br />of-way parallel to CR 512. Staff was directed to provide <br />committee members a survey map of the roadway showing the <br />railroad. <br />4. Indian River Boulevard - South Extension: <br />Committee directed the Planning Department to investigate <br />methods to protect the traffic -handling ability of the new <br />roadway. <br />COUNTYWIDE RECREATION FEASIBILITY STUDY COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Bird reported that he took the above <br />committee on a tour of the various County recreation <br />facilities. This committee has elected a new chairman, <br />Kenneth Baer, and he wants to expand the committee. They <br />are in the process of developing quite a few maps in <br />cooperation with the School Board re future population <br />centers and recreation centers that exist.
