JUL 111984 BOOK 5 6 rr,t 6.19 <br />n`nr. <br />Public Works Director informed the Board that the <br />proposed change order also includes the fourth lane west of <br />10th Avenue to Old Dixie that the Board previously indicated <br />they should move ahead on and get the cost worked up. He <br />reported that it came to $23,000 +. It originally was <br />estimated at $20,000 which did not include the crossing work <br />with the FEC. Mr. Davis continued that he has already <br />instructed the contractor to start work on the fourth lane, <br />and this is a part of the proposed No. 2 Change Order. <br />Commissioner Wodtke agreed to include authorization for <br />the work on the fourth lane in his Motion, and Commissioner <br />Bowman concurred. <br />THE CHAIRMAN CALLED FOR THE QUESTION on the <br />Motion with the above addition. It was voted <br />on and carried unanimously (4-0). <br />Commissioner Bird stated that as far as he personally <br />is concerned, he is not going to be sympathetic to any <br />extensions of contract and waivers of penalty for late <br />completion on 16th Street. <br />Public Works Director Davis reported that along with <br />this change order, a 45 day extension was requested and <br />staff negotiated it down to 30 days. <br />Discussion continued re the completion date, and it was <br />noted with the present 30 day extension, completion would be <br />around November. <br />Chairman Scurlock believed the contractor will be <br />working hard to get to completion because if they don't <br />hurry, they will not be making any money on the project. <br />DISCUSSION RE CAR ALLOWANCES <br />The Board reviewed the following memo from the Clerk: <br />I& <br />
