He believed the key to attracting light <br />clean industry is having large acreage available and hated <br />to make a decision today when -he was not sure what is going <br />to be recommended for the node. <br />Commissioner Lyons noted that there are a group of area <br />residents here to present their views. We are about to see <br />a single family development swallowed up, and we must face <br />that situation. <br />Tony Edwards, resident of 18th Street, immediately <br />adjoining the subject property, informed the Board that all <br />of the owners but one of the subdivision mentioned by <br />'Commissioner Lyons are here today. They do not want to be <br />swallowed up; they want to retain their life style and <br />protect their children and pets. He noted that 100th Avenue <br />is a dirt road; they are nine miles from a grocery store, <br />and the planes are noisy, but this is the price they are <br />willing to pay for the solitude. Mr. Edwards emphasized <br />that their main problem is with the access to the subject <br />property, and he informed the Board that there is a 281. <br />"spike" strip which runs from SR 60 to the end of the <br />property to be rezoned, which he believed was put there to <br />prevent this from happening and allow them to continue to <br />use 100th Avenue without having semis going up and down it. <br />Chairman Scurlock noted that it appears they would not <br />have too much objection to the proposed rezoning if there <br />were another way to get into the O'Haire property, . <br />Mr. Edwards confirmed that their objection would-be the <br />traffic coming into their neighborhood, and they also would <br />43 <br />SEP 5 1954 BOOK 58 FW., 149 <br />
